Privacy Policy
How Kelowna Drafting & Design handles the information you send us.
Who we are
Kelowna Drafting & Design ("we", "us") is a residential design and drafting business in Kelowna, British Columbia. This policy explains what personal information we collect through kelownadrafting.ca, why we collect it, how we look after it and the choices you have. We follow British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
What we collect
When you send our feasibility review form, we collect:
- your name, phone number and email address;
- your project type, the project address and the details you type in;
- any sketches, photos or plans you choose to upload;
- your preferred time for a call, if you give one;
- the page you sent the form from and, if you arrived from an ad or a link, the campaign details in that link (for example the source, campaign name or ad click ID).
Like most websites, our hosting provider also records basic technical information (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested) in server logs, to keep the site secure and working.
Cookies, analytics and ads
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, and Google Ads and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) conversion tracking to see which of our ads lead to enquiries. These tools use cookies or similar technology and receive information such as the pages you visit, your approximate location, your device and browser, and whether you sent a form. We do not send them your name, phone number, email address, project address or files.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on, and manage ad personalization in your Google and Meta account settings. The site still works if you block cookies.
Why we use it
- To review your project, check zoning and code for your address, and reply to your request.
- To prepare a quote and, if you hire us, to carry out the work.
- To keep records we need for accounting, tax and legal reasons.
- To understand which pages and ads work, so we can improve the site.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing. We only email you about your request or your project unless you ask for something else.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only when it is needed to do what you asked:
- Service providers that run our website, email and file storage, who may only use it to provide that service to us.
- Project partners, such as a registered structural engineer or an energy advisor, and only if you hire us and your project needs them.
- The City of Kelowna or another local government, when we prepare or support your permit application.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
Where it is stored
Our website is hosted on servers in the United States, and some of our service providers (including Google and Meta) process information outside Canada. Information stored outside Canada is subject to the laws of that country.
How long we keep it
If you send a request and do not go ahead with a project, we keep your request and files for up to 2 years, then delete them. If you become a client, we keep project records and drawings for as long as needed for the project, any follow-up questions from the City, and our legal and tax obligations (usually 7 years). You can ask us to delete your information sooner, unless we are required to keep it.
How we protect it
The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Form submissions and files are stored with access limited to the people who need them to handle your request. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information against loss, theft and unauthorized access.
Your choices and rights
Under PIPA you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to its use (which may mean we can no longer help with your project). To make a request, use the contact form on this site and choose "Other" as the project type. We will reply within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
